NAACP is leading the fight to ensure that
Black and Brown lives are a priority in all spaces
Join members, activists, and supporters from all over the country as we celebrate the first in-person NAACP Convention in over two years.
NAACP members and delegates will convene together to hear a special message from our leaders, featuring Vice President Kamala Harris.
White Supremacy is a systemic and interlocking web of social, political, cultural, legal, and educational institutions, empowered to effect inequitable policy and practice, in order to preserve the economic dominance of a privileged class at the expense of the disenfranchised. The NAACP is committed to eradicating the legacy and perpetuation of this global scourge. Noted thought leaders Kimberlé Crenshaw, and Tim Wise join NAACP President/CEO Derrick Johnson in an in-depth deconstruction and solution-based analysis of the subject.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, hereinafter referred to as the “NAACP” or the “Association,” was founded on the beliefs embodied in the Constitution of the United States of America. We support democracy, dignity and freedom. Members of the NAACP, in keeping with the charge of our founders, stand against all forms of injustice. The United States of America, built by us all, belongs to all of us. The repayment for our labor is equity and justice for all. The NAACP will continue to fight for justice until all, without regard to race, gender, creed or religion enjoy equal status.
We envision an inclusive community rooted in liberation where all persons
can exercise their civil and human rights without discrimination.
Our mission is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and
practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the
well-being, education, and economic security of Black people and all persons of color.
When we talk about race and justice, we're talking about the ways that discrimination, policing, prosecutions, and incarceration practices impact Black communities.
Our criminal justice system is shaped by biased policing and unfair judicial precedents, rooted in anti-Blackness and racial disparity. The emotional, mental, physical, and financial impact on our communities is a tangible experience for millions of Black people in the U.S. The cost of an unjust justice system is high.
We need a fair and balanced judiciary that reflects all aspects of the legal profession, especially those who've promoted equality in the civil and criminal justice systems. The number of former prosecutors and corporate attorneys who sit on the bench outnumber former civil rights lawyers and public defenders, creating a system that's skewed against individuals. This imbalance will last for decades without intervention.

The U.S. has the largest prison population in the world — 1 in 100 citizens is behind bars. When incarceration is used as the primary response to social problems, individuals, families and communities suffer. We need to shift resources from prisons to education and community development, eliminate mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent offenses, establish treatment for health issues, and end the death penalty.
NAACP is the largest and most influential civil rights organization in the nation. The vital work we do advancing political, educational, social, and economic equality for Black people in the United States depends on the generosity of supporters like you.
